November 25, 2004, UPDATED November 28, 2004 (10:00 PM EST) - Suddenly, without warning, what was just another election in Eastern or Central Europe is not only threatening to become the worst civil war since the Balkans conflicts, but, far more serious, a potential battleground between Russia and Nato. Overnight, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder finds himself at odds with his "ally" Russian President Vladimir Putin whilst Washington and Moscow watch their own "alliance" unraveling more each hour, reverting to the hostile confrontation of the Cold War.
But like I have always maintained on this website: the "death of the Cold War" was merely an illusion.
What we are now witnessing in Ukraine could very well be the beginning of fulfillment of the most nightmarish prophecies, predictions, and dream visions that have maintained a constant presence on this website since it first aired in May 1999. I hate to state the obvious, but I told you so.
Oh yes, perhaps Ukraine will not slip into civil war, the leaders will negotiate, and soon this whole ordeal will be behind us. But let us not forget that already there are Russian troops in Kiev preparing for a civilian slaughter and more behind them awaiting a possible military conflict with an outraged Nato and United States. Even if the worst should not happen this time, we know the Rubicon in our international relations with Moscow has quickly been crossed and that mutual trust is something we will never know again. It will only be a matter of time before another pretext presents itself to Putin or his heirs to tangle with the West. The paranoia of Nato and EU encroachment on Russia's "near abroad" has finally taken its toll.
There will likely not be a three years and seven months period of US-Russian global policing as described in my article, Crossroads, on Nostradamus NOW. Clearly, the "reign left to two" in Quatrain 4.95 must refer to the dominant role the US and UK have played in world events since 9/11. If so, the end - and not the beginning - of the three years and seven must be fastly approaching. One of the two "vassals" is rebelling: Ukraine. Now we can only await the rebellion of the second vassal (Israel?).

As can be seen, Ukraine is listed as one of the modern nations that once made up the land of Sarmatia. I should add, however, that Ukraine made up the lion's share of the ancient kingdom. For all we know, Nostradamus is using Sarmatia exclusively as the synonym for modern Ukraine.
If so, Germany will take on a powerful role as the dominant Nato and EU nation closest to Russia's "near abroad." For the first time since the Second World War, German forces will be deployed in a major conflict.
According to the above quatrain, Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder of Germany will be instrumental in the defence of Poland, Austria, Hungary, the former Yugoslavia, and the former Soviet republics of the Baltics, Belarus, and Ukraine. In another quatrain, we know it will likely be he since the leader in question will come from Saxony. Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder comes from lower Saxony.
Germany will require the aid of other Nato nations, of course, and the US will certainly be one of them when the civil war in Ukraine or Russian-Nato confrontation in Ukraine spreads to neighbouring Hungary:

Whatever the "reasons" Moscow will give for its actions, the Russian occupation of Hungary will serve two purposes: one, the re-annexation of Budapest into a new Eastern Bloc, and two, a base of operations from which to pour reinforcements into Yugoslavia -- its only remaining ally in Central Europe.
US forces have been using Hungary as a staging base for peacekeeping operations in Bosnia since December 1995 and in Kosovo since June 1999. Both US and Russian troops are stationed in eastern Bosnia and Kosovo as peacekeepers. Should hostilities break out, Russian troops will likely begin firing on SFOR and KFOR positions while others join up with the Russian regular army pouring into Serbia and Hungary.
Russian tanks will then roll into Budapest accompanied by helicopter gunships and fighter jets. Moscow will issue a terrifying threat to the Nato alliance: withdraw from Eastern Europe and the Balkans or face Russia's formidable nuclear force. The United States, however, will refuse to stand down, matching Russia's threats with threats of its own.
Eventually, Russia will launch a terrifying blitzkrieg against Europe and, as certain German and Central European prophecies will bear out, soon afterwards the great "nuclear duel" between the US and Russia will occur. The loss of life to both sides will be quite catastrophic.
Not only are these scenarios in danger of playing out, but two base 7 vectors I attributed to them several years ago are very close to the current month of November 2004. The vectors for an intentional war between Russia and the United States are September-October 2004, November 2005, and June-September 2006.
Yet one other thought has come to mind with talk of revolution and civil war in Ukraine and fears of it spreading to nearby nations like Hungary. What if this is the revolution that has been prophesied that will spread throughout Europe, triggering a Russian blitzkrieg of the West? The prophecy runs thusly:
I had hoped that we might live on another year, perhaps until 2006 or even 2008, but events have quickly conspired to bring the threat of the unthinkable to our doorstep NOW ... or very soon.

Footnote (11/26/04) - One can now see some of the other players mentioned in Quatrain 3.58 entering the field: Poland and Lithuania. More and more the US and Russia are being portrayed as antagonists, like the battling twins Castor and Pollux. Everything appears to be unfolding little by little in keeping with Nostradamus' many warnings.

MOSCOW, Russia (AP) -- President Vladimir Putin
agreed Tuesday to reinstate the Soviet-era red star as the
Russian military's official emblem -- in the latest reincarnation
of Communist symbols that has sparked fears of a return to the
repressive past.
The proposal came from Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov, who spoke Tuesday at a meeting of Russia's top generals attended by Putin. "The star is sacred for all servicemen," Ivanov said in remarks broadcast on Russian television as Putin sat behind him, frowning his brow. "Our fathers and grandfathers went to battle with the star."
Putin quickly endorsed Ivanov's appeal, and then voiced hope that the speakers of both houses of the Russian parliament would succeed in "convincing" lawmakers to approve the corresponding legislation.
The proposed resurrection of the red star is expected to be popular with the conservative military and appeared to be an attempt by the Kremlin to reinforce servicemen's loyalty.
But Putin's critics said it also sent a powerful signal to the rest of the country. "It's very serious because it doesn't just feed old people's nostalgia, but also affects the youth who don't understand the fascist or communist ideologies but are eager to grasp their symbols," Sergei Grigoryants, a Soviet-era dissident and strong critic of the government, said in a telephone interview.
On Putin's initiative, the Russian parliament earlier resurrected the music of the old Soviet anthem, albeit with a new words, and brought back the Soviet-era red banner as the military's flag. At the same time, it also endorsed the czarist-era white-red-and-blue flag that Russia has been using since the 1991 Soviet demise and the old imperial emblem of a double-headed eagle.
Putin has shrugged off criticism from liberals, who voiced fears that the return of the Communist symbols could herald the comeback of the Soviet-style authoritarian regime. He countered that the use of Soviet-era symbols should help mend deep rifts in society by acknowledging the achievements of the Soviet past that older generations cherish.
Lyudmila Alexeyeva, a Soviet-era dissident who heads the Moscow Helsinki Group, a leading human rights organisation, said that Putin has turned to old symbols in a bid to strengthen his support base. "No one is left out: Communists get their anthem, the conservatives have a double-headed eagle and democrats their tricolor flag," she said. "It makes one wonder what kind of national ideology such a state has."
Some observers interpreted the call for resurrecting the red star as an indication that the Kremlin had abandoned its push for radical military reform. The Kremlin had championed the creation of a leaner, professional military instead of the balky Soviet-style armed forces intended to confront the west.
"It may look like a trifle, but it gives an important signal to both the top brass and the civilian bureaucracy that the Soviet military machine will remain," said Pavel Felgenhauer, an independent military analyst.
The Kremlin's plans to abandon the unpopular draft and switch to an all-volunteer force have met stiff resistance from the top military brass who said that the move would be too costly. In the ranks, there is smoldering discontent over wages which remain miserable at the equivalent of just over US$100 a month for a junior officer despite a recent increase.
The proposed restoration of the star is expected to easily pass through the parliament, which is dominated by pro-government centrists, who obediently follow the Kremlin's wishes.
The five-point star has been the symbol of the Red Army since it was established in the wake of the 1917 Bolshevik revolution. Along with the hammer and sickle, it also appeared in the corner of the Soviet red flag.
Putin's attitude about Soviet-era symbols is in sharp contrast with the policy of his predecessor, Boris Yeltsin, who loathed the Communist symbols and staunchly resisted hardliners' pressure to restore the old anthem.

Russia has announced a radical plan to overhaul more than 100 of its most powerful intercontinental nuclear missiles, which had been destined for the scrapheap under the arms reduction treaties with the United States.
A total of 144 of the missiles, which weigh 200 tonnes and can each carry 10 warheads to the US from silos behind the Ural mountains, were due to be dismantled by 2007 under the Start 2 weapons treaty signed by George Bush Sr and Boris Yeltsin nine years ago.
But the commander in chief of Russia's strategic nuclear forces, Colonel-General Nikolai Solovtsov, has declared that the missiles - nicknamed Satan by the west during the cold war - are to be refurbished and upgraded to keep them fully operational until 2014.
The decision has been seen as an indication of Russia's desire to maintain a functioning nuclear arsenal, despite its warmer relations with the west, and to aggressively pursue a strong negotiating position with the White House.
The missiles are considered particularly effective, since they send 50 warheads over their target area, 40 of which are decoys designed to outwit sophisticated missile defence systems of the kind planned by the Bush administration.
Ten warheads are left to deliver one-megaton payloads.
Satan missiles are land-based, allowing several to be launched simultaneously from the same place, thus increasing their chance of evading a defence system.
Their prolonged existence is a significant issue in Washington, which is at pains to justify and expedite the creation of a missile defence shield.
General Solovtsov announced that three divisions of the silo-based SS 18 "Satan" missiles would be saved, as would one division of the train-based SS 24 "Scalpel" heavy missiles.
It is Russia's first practical step towards renovating its nuclear arsenal since the US declared in December that it considered the anti-ballistic-missile treaty obsolete.
President Bush said the treaty prevented the US defending itself against terrorism and claimed that a new era of entente with Russia meant it was no longer needed.
"We're moving to replace mutually assured destruction with mutual cooperation," Mr Bush said at the time.
President Vladimir Putin replied that the decision was a "mistake", but not a threat to Russia.
Six months later Russia pulled out of the Start 2 treaty, which compelled it to destroy its Satan missiles.
Defence experts said the decision to renovate the Satan was also motivated by the cash crisis in the Russian armed forces.
"It is cheaper to keep maintaining the missiles than to dismantle them," Yevgeny Miasnikov of the Centre for Arms Control, Energy and Environmental Studies in Moscow said.
"The missiles are not very old. The general purpose [of the Russian military] is still the downsizing [of the nuclear arsenal], but this will not happen as quickly as we thought two years ago."

This prediction was not previously dated by the base 7 system. It was a Nostradamus interpretation without a date that I tentatively linked with a potential conflict between Russia and Nato. The next immediate vector for an intentional war between Russia and the United States is August 2006 (a reactionary and/or calculated military engagement). Two later extremely deliberate vectors are August/September 2008 and August 2009. These last two vectors agree with the cryptic prediction by Alois Irlmaier regarding "two 8s and a 9."
This event may in part be a case of Russia taking advantage of a United States weakened by wars in the Middle East, South Asia, and the Pacific. Up to this point it is possible that Moscow has stayed on the sidelines during several Balkan conflicts to come, one in Bulgaria, one in Macedonia, and another in Hungary-Yugoslavia, and denouncing Nato's actions at every opportunity as it did in 1999, and presenting the appearance that it is seeking a diplomatic resolution to the fighting.
We can only speculate about the possible causes for a Balkan war in Serbia that spreads to Hungary. One likely political development that could lead to war is that Vojvodina (northern Serbia), largely populated with ethnic Hungarians, will declare independence from Belgrade. Another scenario could be that a right-wing Hungarian government will ally with Belgrade, forcing the citizens to fight on the side of Serbia during a new "Yugoslav" conflict. Of course, it may simply be that another Balkan war, possibly begun in Kosovo or Bosnia, will eventually migrate northward into Hungary.
Then again, as was the case in 1914, the trigger could be an assassination. Here is what some prophets have to say on that subject:

If I am correct, tensions will become quite high between the two nuclear powers when wars resume in the Balkans while a major conflict rages in the Middle East. Possibly as early as November 2005, but no later than August 2009, "Castor and Pollux" will become enemies in the "field" of Eastern and Central Europe.

| Although it seems likely that this
quatrain was fulfilled in March/April 1997, it is still
possible that Q2.15 has yet to be fulfilled (for more on
what may be a 1997 fulfillment go to Predictions 1998 (Part
Two) and the
"1996-98 in Review" section). The "bearded star" will likely be the next comet observable to the naked eye. The reference to "Castor and Pollux in the ship" indicates a massive naval buildup of Russian and US forces in the Adriatic and Mediterranean seas and the Persian Gulf shortly before, during, or shortly after the comet's appearance. |

A massive war effort will be underway ("public treasure emptied on land and sea"). The troubles in Italy suggests to me that a new Balkans conflict will lead to attacks on Nato bases in Italy and US naval forces in the Adriatic.
In a future context, who then is the monarch who will be slaughtered a short time after the events of lines 2, 3, and 4 of Quatrain 2.15? That depends on how Nostradamus defines "monarch." If he is speaking of a head-of-state, this could refer to the assassination of the US president or, if Alois Irlamier can be believed, the murder of the third of three Balkans leaders (Boris Djindjic, who was assassinated in March 2003, being the first). However, if Nostradamus is truly speaking of an official monarch, then this may be someone such as Jordan's King Abdullah II or Saudi King Faud.
Castor and Pollux as Russia and Belarus
However, there always remains a
possibility that the two twins, Castor and Pollux, might
represent Russia and Belarus: "Big Russia" and
"Little Russia." Boris Yeltsin wished "good
sailing" to their "big, common ship" when he met
with Alexander Lukashenko on April 2, 1997 only days following
the US-Russian Helsinki Summit. This could be what Nostradamus
means by "Castor and Pollux in the ship"). Comet
Hale-Bopp also reached its brightest magnitude on that day and
Albania was in a state of chaos as refugees fled to Italy. The
monarch who was "slaughtered" a short while later may
have been England's "people's monarch": Princess Diana.
Therefore it is possible that Castor and Pollux being "enemies in the field" in Quatrain 2.90 may indicate that Russia and Belarus, rather than Russia and the US, will engage each other in combat at the same time that Yugoslavia and Hungary fall into turmoil.
Or it may mean that Russia and Belarus will be allied against Nato and the United States when war comes to Hungary and Yugoslavia. Time will tell.
Quatrain 8.15 Towards Russia great efforts

Although this is an interpretation of Quatrain 8.15, I have every reason in the world to believe that this event will one day happen. However, if I were to attempt to date this event's climax through use of base 7 numerology, I would normally not place it's happening before August 2006 and no later than August/September 2008 or August 2009.
Lee McCann believed that this quatrain was dated by the two eclipses of 1999: a partial lunar eclipse which occurred on July 28 and the total solar eclipse of August 11. However, the events described above failed to take place at that time. Even so, had the Nato air war against Yugoslavia not ended on June 20, 1999, but continued on into July and August as originally planned, it is entirely possible the situation would have evolved into the prophesied scenario of Quatrain 8.15.
I believe the "two eclipses" to be Russia and the United States -- "eclipse" representing a state of "conflict" or meaning that both powers are weakened by the coming world war in Europe.
The two major powers (Russia and the US), often in eclipse over one another's handling of foreign affairs, will be hard-pressed by their adversaries. Russia and the US have been "eclipsed" (in serious, possibly dangerous, disagreement) ever since 1995, first over the bombing of Bosnian Serbs, secondly in 1997 and 1998 over bombings and threatened bombings of Iraq, thirdly in 1999 over the US-led Nato bombing of Yugoslavia and later over the military offensive against the people of Chechnya. Ironically, the US war in Iraq in 2003, although criticised and disapproved by Russia, along with France and Germany, did not lead to the type of heated verbal exchanges that occurred in the 1990s.
Pannonia was once a Roman colony that comprised much of what is now Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia and Montenegro. The Pannonians would be those people living in any of these countries. Thus, in addition to the Serbs, Croats, and Bosniaks, we would include the ethnic minorities of Pannonia such as the Albanians, Turks, Gypsies (also called Roma), and the ethnic Hungarians in northern Yugoslavia (Vojvodina).
One could argue that McCann was right about line 3 and that line 4 describes Operation Allied Force being waged against Yugoslavia from March 24, 1999 to June 20, 1999. There were air attacks in northern Serbia around Novi Sad -- a city in Vojvodina which is largely populated with a mixture of Serbs, Roma, and ethnic Hungarians. And certainly "Europe" and much of the world were "vexed" by the conflict as described in line 3.
However, the first line firmly establishes Russian military involvement in the region -- not merely in a peacekeeping capacity but in a major war-waging or defensive military role.
An attack on Russia by a nation or group of nations identified with an hommasse is explicitly stated -- an attack that may take the form of an invasion of Russia via the former Soviet republics. This is enough to place the quatrain in a future context.
Since the war on terrorism began with a US invasion of Afghanistan in October 2001, there has been mobilisation of US forces in other places, including Iraq (invaded in 2003 and now the scene of the worst military quagmire the US has seen since Vietnam), Yemen, Somalia, and the Philippines. It appears that by 2007, the war on terrorism will be extended to Iran and possibly Syria, two places where some very limited engagement has already occurred. Two other regions that US forces have moved into are the former Soviet republics in Central Asia and Georgia -- regions Moscow has complained as being too close to Russia's frontiers. In addition, the US has insinuated itself in a group of nations vying for control of Caspian Sea oil.
Ergo, the United States and Nato neighbour Turkey are already in good military positions to launch an invasion of Russia should hostilities ever break out between Russia and Nato.
The hommasse has been the subject of much speculation for centuries. Translated, it means "man-woman." Lee McCann (1941) interprets it as "mankind." This would be my primary conclusion as well, with "mankind" perhaps representing a large group of nations -- likely to be the Nato alliance or the European Union (Europa).
Then again, it may be an aggressive female politician from Germany ... one who will soon be at odds with Moscow over numerous issues. Prophecy tells us that Poland and Germany will take the lead in a Western-led war against Russia in the region known as Sarmatia (Ukraine, Lithuania, Belarus, and Poland) and Pannonia (Hungary and the former Yugoslav states).
Such a woman exists: the
newly elected German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
"BERLIN, Germany (CNN) -- Conservative leader Angela Merkel says she will become Germany's first woman chancellor under a deal with Gerhard Schroeder's Social Democrats. The deal, which ends Schroeder's seven years in office, breaks a three-week deadlock that started when voters gave Merkel's conservatives a narrow victory but not the majority needed to form a center-right government. Instead, the two leaders' parties will form a "grand coalition" that bridges the country's right-left split.
Speaking at a news conference Monday, Merkel called the deal "good and fair" and said the parties agreed that "there is no alternative to a reform course" for Germany. The two parties were "obliged to be successful," she said, expressing confidence she would find agreement on a common foreign policy with the Social Democrats.
She also said establishing good relations with the United States was "an important task." "We have unanimously agreed that we will start coalition negotiations with the SPD aimed at creating a grand coalition," Merkel told reporters. "The conservatives will occupy the chancellery. The conservatives and SPD will be represented equally in the Cabinet with ministers. That means it is not possible that the one outvotes the other."
In addition, another
female politician in the region, former Ukraine Prime
Minister Yulia Tymshenko, may soon be running for the
office of president since the recent breakup of the Yushchenko
government. She has already been at odds with Russia and
Ukraine is definitely mentioned as a future battlefield by
Nostradamus.
Also, I strongly suspect that the US president-elect of 2008 shall be none other than Hillary Clinton, the final chief executive of the United States, and prophecy tells us all about her. Clearly, if she wins in November 2008 and is inaugurated in January 2009, she will escalate the war on terror, like Nixon did in Vietnam. Three of four prophecies have a female leader at war with Russia.
One prophecy by William Branham (1933) specifically says there will be a female US president and suggests that she may be the last one, and a presage by Nostradamus says one of the regions of a female leader's home country will be Florida.
Branham says she will be
beautiful, yet cruel. And, as Nostradamus indicates in Quatrain
8.15 above, she will lead America and all of Europe in a war
against the most dreadful foe on earth: the vast military machine
and nuclear might of the Russian Federation. Then, in one hour,
she will see her great nation transformed into a cauldron of fire
and smoke. And this final prophecy is echoed in the Book of
Revelation concerning the fate of the "whore of
Babylon."
Hillary's first and only term may not last longer than fourteen months, and perhaps only as little as nine months. Hillary will then be assassinated or lynched just prior to the nuclear destruction of America.
There is, of course, another angle we might wish to consider when looking at the word hommasse. It could be an attempt by Nostradamus to approximate the sound of a name or group.
I have been discussing Quatrain 8.15 since May 1999 with the view that hommasse, which literally means "man-woman" (or a masculine or aggressive woman), might apply to a female head-of-state. But perhaps it does not:

That similarity in sound, hommasse and Hamas, is very striking. Still, to me the notion hommasse could actually be Hamas was a bit preposterous when I gave it any serious thought. However, what was once a fairly small Palestinian terrorist organisation, has now become the legitimate government in Gaza.
The Hamas trip to Moscow is something I have been supplying links to news reports on the 2007 (Part Two) page, demonstrating how the Middle East is gradually tugging at Russia so that, one day, it may be forced to take an active military role in the region. And when that happens, the danger is high of a "Gog, land of Magog" scenario playing out -- or at least an archetype for the true war of Gog (which I believe will not occur until around 2193).
The question is: can Hamas influence Russian foreign policy to the extent that Quatrain 8.15 implies, to cause nearly all of Europe and a large part of the world to be extremely worried by a Russian attack on Hungary and the former Yugoslavia? Hamas could certainly influence Moscow into a position where it might consider an attack southwards on Israel (Ezekiel's war of Gog) or at least near Israel (against US forces in Iraq and Iran) sometime in the near future, yet that is conspicuously absent from the quatrain which is entirely Euro-centred.
Why would anything Hamas leaders say or do in Moscow cause Russia to attack the EU or Nato forces in Europe? I suppose, as an extension of a war in the Middle East against US or Nato forces, Moscow might attack westward. After all, who can say what power, authority, and international leverage Hamas may actually have by late 2007?
But power enough to attack Russia?
That is really what Quatrain 8.15 is saying Hamas is doing.
"Great exertions (or efforts) towards Russia" suggests military or aggressive actions, which would be rather absurd in the case of Hamas. Even more absurd, that Hamas could worry all of Europe and much of the world (Universe) through their exertions. The phrase almost certainly indicates a hostile attitude by Hamas towards Russia, somehow having become perceived as an obstacle or adversary, quite the opposite of what role Moscow is currently playing.
Ergo, unless developments dictate otherwise, I am still following the "man-woman" line of reasoning: with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, former Ukraine Prime Minister Yulia Tymshenko, or a future US President Hillary Clinton leading the forces of the West in a great and vexing war against Russia.
After a second "Russian Revolution" or 2008 presidential elections, the new Russian president -- perhaps Vladimir Zhirinovsky -- will declare all past agreements with the United States, Nato, and the EU void. He will seek to reintegrate the former Soviet Union -- by force if necessary. He will also demand that Nato withdraw from Yugoslavia, Bosnia, and Hungary. Indeed, the Nato alliance and the EU will be accused of attempting to subvert and conquer Russia by expansion into Finland, Ukraine, and Georgia. "What next?," the Russian leader will ask. "Do they believe we will allow them to overrun Belarus, Azerbaijan, and Transniester as well? We must respect the integrity of Nato and the EU while they have spent years mocking the C.I.S.? Nyet! They wish to isolate and conquer Russia, this has always been their plan. We will not allow it!"
Escalating war in Iraq and Iran will only serve to heighten Russian paranoia concerning the United States and Britain. Anti-Israeli feelings will also intensify if a conflict with Syria breaks out and grows bloody. Rage will boil over throughout the country if the dreaded "Mabus scenario" plays out.
Russians will demonstrate in the streets against U.S., Israeli, and Western policies in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, the Balkans, and the Caucasus. Demands for Russian military action will be voiced loudly in Parliament. One of the loudest speakers will be Vladimir Zhirinovsky -- whether he is president or not.
Nato will hear the charges, insisting that they are baseless, but knowing its denials will not be believed. The Russian president will seek to re-integrate the former Soviet Union and the former Warsaw Pact by force. Russian tanks will begin rolling into former Soviet republics bordering central Europe and the Middle East.
It is possible that by this time, some Nato forces will be bogged down in the Middle East, a new Balkans war, or will no longer even be Nato members and it will be up to an EU army to defend Europe. Nato and/or the European Union may prove to be an even match for the Russians for several months due to a reluctance on both sides to use nuclear weapons. There is also evidence in prophecy of a "phony war" where Russia feigns defeat, only to launch a blitzkrieg a few months (or a few years) later while Europe and America are off guard.
As Russia begins massive assaults southwards into Transcaucasia and the Middle East and westward into Eastern and Central Europe, Berlin and Paris will realise too late that their 2000-2001 pacts with Moscow and 2002-2003 solidarity with Russia against the US war in Iraq was part of a mass deception -- one that includes the recent seat offered Russia as an "honorary" Nato member.
Nevertheless, Germany will take on a powerful role as the dominant Nato and EU nation closest to Russia's "near abroad." For the first time since the Second World War, German forces will be deployed in a major conflict.
According to the above quatrain, Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany or her successor will be instrumental in the defence of Poland, Austria, Hungary, the former Yugoslavia, and the former Soviet republics of the Baltics, Belarus, and Ukraine. Because of the "confusions in the Balkans," U.S., British, French, Italian, and Spanish Nato troops will have their hands full, especially if Nato members Greece and Turkey become enemies over a conflict in Serbia or Macedonia.
Germany will require the aid of other European nations -- such as Belgium, the Netherlands, and Denmark -- in its initial defence of the "near abroad."
And who will the German defender be? One quatrain suggests he/she may come from Saxony.
Nostradamus warns that Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands will be deceived by Russia and enter into a "phony alliance" with Moscow. Technically, this has already happened -- in 2002 all of Nato entered into an alliance with Russia, one that is likely just for show and that will also give Moscow greater say in Europe's affairs.
However, when Russia's true intentions are revealed, Germany will take the lead against the exertions of the new Soviet empire.
According to the Liber Vaticinationem Quodam Instinctumentis, a prophetic work written by an obscure monk in AD 346, Germany will be involved in three world wars during the 20th Century and the onset of the 21st Century. The first two wars will be wars of aggression, but the last will be a war to defend "the Empire" (Europe) against the "Eastern empire" (Russia).
And the final result?

One prophet who was often overlooked in the 20th Century was one Alois Irlmaier. His visions of a third World War in Europe, the Middle East, and the Pacific concur with many of my own projections as well as those of the French oracle Nostradamus. His description of a third World War, BEGUN BY A MAJOR CONFLICT IN THE BALKANS LEADING TO AN INVASION OF EUROPE BY RUSSIA, in particular is among the most detailed and horrifying prophetic accounts ever recorded on the subject.
I must warn that what follows is quite shocking and may disturb some of you. I have myself only recently received the complete Irlmaier prophesies. In preface, allow me to say that Irlmaier's vision confirms my own suspicions that the worst and most horrid elements of the First World War, including the use of chemical weapons and a resulting worldwide plague, will be realised in the Third. No one will escape this conflict or its consequences.
Here is what the German seer revealed when interviewed in the 1950s:

This is where most of the action takes place. It appears that Irlmaier, like Nostradamus, foresees a major Balkan conflict preceding a Russian invasion of Yugoslavia and the rest of Eastern and Central Europe. However, unlike Irlmaier, he also predicts an Islamic adversary will push westward along with Russia. Perhaps the "three spearheads" are Russia, a federation of rogue Arab states led by Iraq, and Eurasian and Asian forces led by the Moslem nation of Iran. Germany becomes a pivotal player, but in Irlmaier's account, she becomes quickly swallowed up in a Russian blitzkrieg.
Here is a description by Nostradamus of at least two, if not all three, of the "spearheads" invading Austria and Germany:

It may or may not come to pass that war in the Middle East will begin first. It almost has to one would suppose. Currently, due to attacks on Serbs by ethnic Albanians, Russia and Nato find themselves morally on the same side. The tide is shifting in favour of joint cooperation against those who would attempt to impose a greater Albania on the Serbian population of Yugoslavia.
For Russia to turn enemy toward the West it will take a major dispute elsewhere. That could be the Middle East, where Moscow is aligning with Syria, Lebanon, the Palestinians, Iraq, and Iran. Should the US and nearby Nato members Turkey and Greece ally with Israel and the pro-Western Arab states of Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, Russia will have all the excuse she needs to move against Nato in Europe as well as in the Middle East.
Irlmaier scores points again with his assessment of the "Yellow Peril." This theatre of war appears to be more a case of opportunism (make a grab for Taiwan while the US is engaged elsewhere) than an effort coordinated with Moscow.
Currently, China and North Korea are incapable of waging any real invasion of North America much farther than Alaska and Canada. Some nuclear missiles may reach the US West coast, but a large-scale invasion or attack is unlikely in the near term. Irlmaier speaks little of this theatre of the war, but I suspect it will be a frightening event, nonetheless. What most of us will be horrified by will be the use of tactical nuclear weapons in the Pacific and the destruction of great fleets. I have seen this over and over again in my dreams and it is very unsettling. Great masses of burning metal and oil in the Pacific, white smoke and white flame turning black. It is an image that will come and go as we are reported on the wars in the Middle East and in the former Warsaw Pact countries and the Balkans.
I also believe we will witness a number of cease-fires that will hold for a few months at a time in all three theatres of war, only to start up again, each time more dreadful than before.
This makes a great deal of sense. In lieu of a global-killing, all-out nuclear war, I would expect something along this concept of a line of death from the Western allies. The effects of the yellow and green powders and dust, whatever they are composed of, may appear horrid, ghastly, and drastic, but the alternative (total thermonuclear war) would be unimaginably horrible and probably impossible to survive.

Does Nostradamus have anything to say on the subject of a dust that kills? He certainly does: in two quatrains he describes a terrible pestilence, one by "false dust":

A plague of "false dust" will engulf large regions of southern Turkey, Macedonia, and much of Greece. However, this region of the Balkans is well south of the "line of death" from "yellow dust" demarcated in Irlmaier's prophesy.
Nostradamus also states that the cause of the pestilence will be "denied by Anthony." Could the Anthony here be British Prime Minister Tony Blair?
As I have stated elsewhere, the West can halt the Russian-Moslem invasion dead in its tracks in eastern and central Europe through the aggressive use of air power. If Irlmaier is correct, the air power will make use of chemical weapons to cut off the invaders. Nostradamus implies this can be done, but it is the Holy Bible that suggests this is the tactic that must be used:
Unlike Irlmaier, the other horrors, including the 72 hours (three days) of darkness, are not mentioned by the prophet Daniel as following this Western air attack. Indeed, no analogue to the three days of darkness exists anywhere else but in Marian prophesy (which is a subject that requires more space than is allowed here).
Nostradamus, however, warns us of what may come if an air attack is used too tardily. The war will mutate into attacks on southern and western Europe and all naval forces in the Mediterranean by North Africa, helmed by Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi. The flood of "Deucalion" (the Greek Noah) will come to places like Sardinia, cities deluged by tsunamis and incinerated by nuclear weapons as far west as Gibralter.
Those of Russia and the East have a response of their own for the line of death created by the Western Alliance. Whilst there are numerous theories of what sort of weapons can cause earthquakes and tsunamis, including a tsunami bomb that was experimented with by the Germans during World War II, it seems more likely that nuclear weapons will be used as a last resort.

According to Irlmaier, a pilot will come from the east, suggesting he will come from Russia, the Middle East, or China. The "large water" is the Atlantic Ocean for someone flying from that direction.
Nostradamus also writes often of great cities deluged. This could be caused by off-shore nuclear blasts, calculated to flood and poison cities without subjecting them to fire and massive physical destruction. Some notable examples are the following:

Sulphur may be as close Nostradamus can get to radiation poisoning. Not unless the cause of this tsunami is an oceanic volcano eruption. But then again, Irlmaier says these weapons of war are Satanic, thus sulphurous in nature.
Unfortunately, regarding these great inundations, Irlmaier is at odds with American seer Edgar Cayce as to the cause.
I also concur with Irlmaier's view that, after World War III, there will be revolutions that will sweep France and Italy. However, in my view, based on an understanding of Nostradamus, this will be some twenty years after the end of the war. Also, unlike Irlmaier, I forsee these revolutions paving the way for a fourth global war that will last for 27 years.
There are other prophets, however, like the Seer of Waldviertel, who foresee these civil wars occurring before the Russian advance on Europe.
In summary, the prophesies of Alois Irlmaier may be the most detailed and gruesome chronological account of the coming global conflict and a universal geological catastrophe that we have. However, questions inevitably present themselves.
Are the earthquakes and tsunamis man-created catastrophes, as Alois contends, or will they arise from geological or space-related causes? Irlmaier is definitely at odds with Edgar Cayce on the cause of the great inundations he foresees. He is also at odds with John at Patmos, author of the Book of Revelation, who attributes the "great earthquake" to those supernatural forces (or space-based forces perhaps) that are at the command of God.
Then there is the question of the 72 hours of darkness (known as the "three days of darkness" in Marian prophesies).
No analogue to this event exists anywhere, including biblical scripture, save in Matthew 24:29 and in the breaking of the sixth seal of Revelation. Both describe a worldwide earthquake, a time of great darkness, the moon the colour of blood, and the sun obscured, the stars seemingly out of their place. No mention of death is made in Matthew at all from this phenomenon and in Revelation, men are filled with dread and those who die do so because of the destructiveness of the earthquakes and other earth changes -- not from some chemical or biological agent.
Nevertheless, if we are to heed the warning of Alois Irlmaier, it is impossible to completely divorce ourselves from the possibility that those who warn of such a horrid phenomenon are correct. It is strange that Irlmaier shifts from man-created toxic dust to what he calls "satanic" boxes.
Referring to the same phenomenon, the Blessed Anna-Maria Taigi related the following in a vision she experienced in the 19th century:
If accounts of the three days of darkness prove to be wrong, we are still standing at the precipice of the most ghastly war humanity has ever known. But if they are right, we must pray that this war never happens as chronicled in the Irlmaier narrative above, for the cost will be far more terrifying and catastrophic than anything our worst imaginings or nightmares can conjure.
In the tradition of Alois Irlmaier are the prophecies of Brother Adam, whose own predictions regarding World War III precede Irlmaier's prognostications by six years. It will be noted how eerily similar his vision is of a Russian blitzkrieg of Europe. However, we are given new information: the Balkan conflict that will ignite the Russian offensive will be "set up" by the Russians themselves, probably with the aid of Yugoslavia. The advance is much worse also -- much further west than the Ruhr district of Germany as Irlmaier has said -- reaching into Scandinavia, France, and the English Channel. Here too we are introduced to Nostradamus' theme of a pope who must flee Rome and the "great Monarch" who will be "determined by God" to end the war with great fury and destruction.
There are literally hundreds of prophecies from Europe that discuss this Russian/Eastern invasion of Europe and the aftermath of World War III. Here are several other notable prophecies:
There are few prophecies concerning total thermonuclear war between the United States and Russia, but what prophecy does exist is terrifying. According to one source, Erna Stieglitz, this will occur when the Russian advance into Europe has been halted by use of radioactive and chemical weapons and the invading forces are forced into a retreat.
It will be noted that the same general sequence of events regarding the Russian invasion of Europe and its aftermath as described by Alois Irlmaier and other European prophets can also be seen in this abstract. Here, however, we have a great deal of specific information concerning nations to be involved, the various fronts, the defence zones, and more.
Note that this is the first complete English translation of Erna Stielglitz's prophecy. I did the best that I could and am hopefully not in error in any places:
I have held the opinion that Russia and the US would not face off militarily until Moscow was once again communist or in the hands of a dictatorship. Since the 2000 election of Vladimir Putin it can now be argued that something like a dictatorship exists in Russia.
A Russian-Nato conflict can begin at any time if the situation in Yugoslavia or in the former Yugoslav republics deteriorates again. I also suspect that there will be tension between Russia and the United States over major conflicts that will develop in the Middle East. Such conflicts in the Balkans and in the Middle East can easily lead to global war and a major nuclear exchange between the two great powers.
The base 7 projection for a nuclear war between Russia and the United States is September-October 2004 and August-October 2006.
In 1996 I experienced a lucid dream of a time of trouble when the US and Russia will go to the brink once again as they did in 1962 -- the precipice of total thermonuclear war. Access this Dream Window to experience what may be a vision of events soon to come.
More recently I experienced a summer nuclear attack on the United States and the US retaliation in the following Dream Window.
In September 1979, during
the Carter administration, a computer glitch caused technicians
at US nuclear defence headquarters to believe that the Soviet
Union had launched an all-out thermonuclear attack on the United
States. It turned out to be an accidentally-run war games program
(the incident inspired the 1983 movie War Games).
In January 1995, Moscow detected a US-launched missile that
appeared to be approaching Russian air space. For fifteen
agonising minutes a drunken Boris Yeltsin sat staring at his
nuclear briefcase, preparing to push the "button,"
before word was passed that Russian radar had merely picked up a
US weather satellite launch.
Hopefully, if another "close call" occurs, the outcome will be the same as those in past situations.
Indeed, accidental nuclear war is something we have all been forced to live with throughout most of our lives. Such an event could happen any time. Dozens or hundreds of nuclear-equipped ICBMs self-launching from US and Russian silos and targeting US, Russian, and Nato cities on their original, pre-selected Cold War targets is a nightmare we will have to continue to live with as long as these arsenals exist.
There are no prophecies that anticipate such an event to the best of my knowledge. Still, reality sometimes has a way of overshadowing prophecy and leading us down unexpected and unforeseen paths.
